"Music for the weary hearted looking for a place to sit a while."
From the heart of the Los Angeles wasteland comes folkloriate, a musical digestion of neo-Americana infused with the heart and sensibilities of the downtrodden and disillusioned.
Formed by Nanda Zipp and Mario Esquivel, the group weaves through folk, blues, country and pop styles in an effort to regain what has been lost on commercial self-indulgence and capture the rich and sometimes claustrophobic American experience through music.
Painted in the realism of today's collective American whirlwind, folkloriate offers periodic hints of hope and some sense that we are not alone in our disappointment. Folkloriate is a blend of acoustic and electric instruments and infuses the genres of folk, country, jazz and blues to form a unique and refreshing sound.
Live, folkloriate draws on the talents of drummer Nick Terry and tenor saxophonist Damon Zick, both Cal Arts alumni, where all four musicians met. The band has performed as a duo, trio and quartet around the L.A. area since January ’06.

Nanda Zipp
Acoustic Guitar/Vocals/Drums
"Music, and the inspiration to make music, has no limit". As a singer/songwriter, Nanda has traveled the world looking for ways to discover and express the most basic human experience. His study of music, visual arts, writing and comparative philosophy has given him a depth of inspiration as a songwriter and musician. |

Mario Esquivel
Electric Guitar/Bass/Keys
The other half of the folkloriate songwriting team, Mario, augments Zipp with his influence by Motown and music of the 60’s and 70’s. Mario is a talented multi-instrumentalist and has developed a subtle soulful sound on whatever instrument he plays. |
